- usually developing world with poor sanitation
- In US, usually from traveling to other areas
- Ascaris lumbricoides (roundworm), Trichuris trichiura (whipworm), and Ancylostoma duodenale (hookworm)
- Sx:
- early: transient pulmonary: dry cough, sob
- long term: gi, N/V, diarrhea
- peipheral eosinophilia
- positive FOBT
- Rx: albendazole, oral; mebendazole better for whipworm
