- drive equation left, H+ down

Contraction

- contracted circulating volume
Hypokalemia

- low K in blood, K shift out of cells in exchange to H in, alkalosis
- hypokalemia leads to alkalosis
- alkalosis can also cause hypokalemia
Diuretics

- high urine Cl when using diuretics
- low urine Cl when stopped

- child with symptoms similar to adults taking diuretics
- increased Na delivery to CD, increased aldosterone, increased K/H secretion = hypokalemia, alkalosis
Vomiting

- "secret"
- initial high Cl because diuretics inhibit
Hyperaldosteronism

- no fluid overload
- urinary Cl increased due to increased Na excretion
- only time low urinary Cl is vomiting
